Creativity loves limit

Peter Rosson  (R) and Sally Bain  (B) are  r&b creative individual - a leadership service where  innovation and  entrepreneurship meet.

R&B Creative individual began (under the name Creative Management) in 1997 - at our home in Bondi Beach, Australia - as a response to the demand for creativity coaching and training. Teaching community classes we were amazed at the amount of people who didn't think they were creative. There was a beleif that one was born creative. That innovation was a dream, it could never be a reality.  

This just didn't wash with us. Doesn't everyone have the capacity to innovate? It doesn't require a particular background, just a willingness and  the "staying power" to develop the necessary talent. As Peter loved to say, (over and over again, in fact) "Practice anything for ten years and you'll get good at it." Twelve years later it's still the central mandala of our philosophy.

Peter passed away in 2002, afterwhich Sally shifted the  service focus from creativity  to leadership. Her own experiences leading her to the conclusion that innovation requires leadership and leadership asks the kind of innovation that only a dedicated creative practice can achieve. Thus coaching & team building now centre on  cultivating the  entrepreneurial chops, as it were, to  create or be a part of creating, the much needed thing.

The r&b vision doesn't limit its definition of creative practice to the traditional fields of, say, painting or writing as it had been our experience that even the most seemingly mundane pursuits have been shown to result in originality. Our primary interest  is in people with diverse talents, who have come to their practice via a unique experience of  life, coupled with a genuine desire to  cultivate their vision and make a contribution.
